It's been a couple of weeks since the last T6 notes was sent out...so I'll take a minute to catch you up to speed on what we've been talking about in youth on Sundays. We just finished up our Supernatural series this past Sunday. What an incredible time of studying God's word and seeing beyond the natural things that happen on a day to day basis in our lives. We started by laying the need for a desperate desire to pursue God. We then moved into Angel and Demons a couple of weeks ago. Just in case you missed the email, here is the handout of what we talked about. We followed up that week by talking about how we must engage in spiritual warfare and God has given us the tools we need. We looked at Ephesians 6 discussed how God has given us weapons such as truth, peace, faith, and salvation to defend our minds. These should then move us to action using our offensive weapons of righteousness, the Bible, and prayer. And then this past Sunday we took a Biblical look at the Holy Spirit. We started with the prophet Joel and his prophecies about the Holy Spirit and went on a journey through John the Baptist, Jesus, and finally the early disciples and their experiences with the Holy Spirit. We talked about how the Holy Spirit gives us power to live, helps us fulfill our purpose within the church through the gifts, and is relevant to us today. In fact...we need the Holy Spirit to be active within our lives! Ephesians tells us to be continually filled with the spirit. Romans reminds us that the Holy Spirit brings life in peace when we allow Him to control our mind. And finally, Galatians lays out the fact that living in step with the Spirit keeps us from fulfilling our evil desires. Check it all out here.
We moved into week 2 of Supernatural this past Sunday and it was a great morning. We moved into the subject of Angels and Demons. We had a great discussion about how our natural lives are so often affected by the supernatural world around us. I've attached the handout we gave the students on Sunday for your reference. Last week was such a crazy week for Shannon and I and we related to the students just how real the supernatural battle was for us. We challenged the students to be aware of what is going on in their lives supernaturally, especially with school starting back and the enemy wanting to make their life miserable. Fight the fight with God's power!

Well, school is back in (at least for most everyone)! And we are ready to go for this school year. I am super excited about what God has in store for not just T6 Youth but our entire Streams Church family. Here are just a few upcoming things...
I am now a part of the YoungLife staff at Millennium High School. We were able to have lunch and attend the pep rally at freshman orientation this past Monday. God has opened the doors onto this campus in a huge way! I will get to have lunch there on a weekly basis starting next week and we will be conducting YoungLife in the cafeteria every Monday night starting in September. This is an incredible link to our school community and I am super excited about it!
We recently got 40 tickets donated to T6 Youth for the Phoenix Cardinals and San Diego Chargers game on Saturday, August 27. So here's the deal...they are available for students under the age of 19 and on a first-come, first-served basis. So if you're students are interested...go check out our game page and sign them up today.
Next month, not only are we as a church getting together for family camp on Labor Day weekend, our youth will have an amazing opportunity to serve with the Salvation Army on Saturday, September 17. More details will be forthcoming. And....drum roll...Blitz is back! Four crazy weeks in September of insanity! We will kick it all of on Tuesday, September 13 with our 20 foot Banana Split. This is a great time for your students to invite their friends to be a part of T6.
And finally, we just started a new series called Supernatural. We started off with talking about being desperate for God. We looked at the stories of the woman with the issue of blood and the death of Jarius' daughter. We talked about how they became desperate to get in contact and communion with Jesus. We then asked the question...what are we doing to show our desperation for God? It's so easy to live nominal lives and never press forward towards God. We want to experience more than just the physical realm of following Jesus. We want to move into the supernatural. We want to experience the Holy Spirit. We want to experience God's healing touch. But are we willing to be desperate for God? And if so...what does that look like? So we are on a journey to know more about the supernatural side of God.
Shannon and I are honored to serve you as parents. We are looking forward to this incredible school year. Let us know if you ever need anything.
Allen is the youth pastor of T6 Student Ministries.
