Guest Speaker: Kyle Byrd This past Sunday Kyle Byrd was our guest speaker at T6. He shared the story of David and Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11). He reminded us all that sin is a very slippery path that ultimately leads to cover-up after cover-up. In the story of David and Bathsheba it all started with a wayward glance by David. This led to adultery, the conception of a baby, an attempted cover-up that failed, and eventually the death of Bathsheba's husband along with quite a few other men. Pretty sure it's not quite what David had in mind when he first laid eyes on Bathsheba. And then the biggest blow of all...the story ends with this: "But the thing David had done displeased the Lord." Sin always displeases God. So how do we avoid this? We have to start at the beginning. David thought it would be one innocent night with Bathsheba (if you can call that innocent), but it eventually led to murder and much more. What are the little things in your life that cause you to stumble that you need to watch out for? That one little lie will and can eventually lead to much more. That one little moment of giving in to peer pressure can and will lead to more. So take care of sin at first thought. Get an accountability partner, stay in the Word, be honest with yourself and others, and have a plan! Sin is everywhere, so be ready to fight! Challenge: Take some time to pray for protection over each other as a family. Spiritual warfare is so important when it comes to the fight that is not against flesh and blood.
