Big Idea: Your Faith Rests in Your Understanding of Jesus We put our faith in a lot of different things. Some things may be worthy of our faith...Starbucks...and some things probably just aren't...No Wash Underwear. Regardless of that fact though we do use faith on a daily basis. And for those of us who put our faith in Jesus, it's pretty important to understand what that means. You see, when storms hit us in life our faith is tested. Whether it's a foreclosure, a lost job, a sickness, or just a really bad day, storms can be really put our faith to the test. And to be honest there are times in all of our lives when we may even wonder if Jesus is even around to care about our storms. Even the disciples struggled with this thought. Take some time to read Mark 4.35-41. You see the disciples were stressed out of their minds wondering if Jesus was going to pull them out of the storm. Funny thing is...they had been around Jesus and seen him raise people from the dead, heal sicknesses, and even turn water into wine. Jesus asks them, "Where is your faith?" And they ask, "Who is this guy?" You see they didn't quite grasp who he was. In fact they didn't even realize the simple fact that He was in the boat with them should of been all they needed to persevere. Do we really understand who Jesus is? Is our faith based solely on a shallow understanding of Him? Let's not underestimate Jesus! Let's get to know and understand him fully. Allow the Holy Spirit to build your faith and reveal Jesus in a greater way.
Family Challenge: Talk about some of the storms you may be going through. Talk about the times in the past when you have seen Jesus move in your life. Encourage each other.
